Dermod O'Brien painted the Deer Park at Powerscourt in 1925 — soft light filtering through centuries-old trees, the Wicklow estate at its most serene. It is one of his finest landscape works and a defining image of the Irish countryside in its golden age.
O'Brien (1865–1945) served as President of the Royal Hibernian Academy and spent decades capturing the Irish landscape with exceptional sensitivity to light and atmosphere.
