John Millington Synge – Portrait by John Butler Yeats Framed Print

Synge co-founded the Abbey Theatre and wrote The Playboy of the Western World (1907), whose premiere caused actual riots over its portrayal of rural Irish life. He died just two years later, at 37, from Hodgkin's lymphoma.
