About the Artist
Walter Osborne (1859–1903) was one of Ireland's finest realist painters and draughtsmen, known for his ability to capture everyday Dublin with intimacy and skill. He trained at the Metropolitan School of Art and in Antwerp, bringing European technique home to Irish subjects. Osborne's street scenes and architectural studies became a visual record of late Victorian Dublin, preserving moments that might otherwise be forgotten.
