Collection: Clare Marsh

One of the most quietly accomplished Irish artists of the early 20th century — and among the most overdue for rediscovery.

Clare Marsh (1875–1923) brought emotional restraint and modern clarity to portraits and still lifes drawn from everyday Irish life, working during one of the most turbulent and artistically fertile periods in the country's history. Her paintings are intimate, precise, and carry the particular quality of work made by someone paying very close attention. Deserves to be far better known.
